Helping women with disabilities and mental illness live fully into who God created them to be.
I’m Amy Jean Hetland, a writer and advocate sharing hope, faith, and encouragement for women navigating life with disability, mental illness, and deep questions about identity and purpose.
You are not broken. You are not alone. You are deeply loved by God.
Hi, I’m Amy
I’ve spent much of my life navigating disability and mental illness while trying to reconcile those realities with my faith, my identity, and the calling I believe God has placed on my life.
For years, I believed that these parts of my story disqualified me. That I needed to fix myself before I could be useful to God or fully step into who He created me to be. But over time, God gently reshaped that belief. I began to see that my story was not a limitation. It was an invitation.
I write for women who feel unseen, misunderstood, or weary from carrying burdens they never asked for. Women who want to love themselves honestly, trust God more deeply, and live with purpose even when life looks very different than they imagined.
My current work focuses on transforming my personal story into a non-fiction message of hope, encouragement, and faith for women living with disability and mental illness.
Want to know MORE?
This space is for…
—women who are navigating life with disability or mental illness and are longing for hope, understanding, and a deeper sense of purpose. It’s for women who feel unseen or misunderstood, who are tired of trying to measure up, and who want to believe that their lives still matter deeply to God.
If you’re wrestling with questions about identity, self-acceptance, and how to trust God in the middle of hard realities, you’re in the right place.
My writing is shaped by faith, lived experience, and a deep desire to offer hope to women who are walking hard roads.
Here you’ll find reflections and encouragement around:
Faith and identity, especially when life doesn’t look the way you expected
Living with disability and mental illness with honesty and grace
Learning to love yourself as God loves you
Perseverance, hope, and trusting God in seasons of suffering
Behind-the-scenes reflections from my writing journey
My hope is that my words help you feel less alone and more confident in who God created you to be.
STAY CONNECTED AS THIS STORY TAKES SHAPE
You’re invited to walk with me as this writing journey unfolds.
I am currently working on a book shaped by my faith and lived experience with disability and mental illness.
This project is for women who are learning to love and accept themselves, trust God more deeply, and live with purpose even when life feels heavy or uncertain.
This book is still unfolding, and I’m grateful to be walking this writing journey one step at a time.
